In a rollercoaster of a game, the WCJC Pioneers managed to pull off a stunning 19-11 victory over the Coastal Bend Cougars (CBC Baseball).
The drama unfolded on March 25, 2023, as Kade Reynolds stepped onto the mound in the bottom of the 4th with the Pioneers narrowly leading 5-4. With runners threatening on 1st and 3rd, Reynolds showed his courage, shutting down the inning with a swift line drive catch.
The 5th inning, however, was where the real test began. Reynolds faced a series of challenges, starting with a hit-by-pitch, followed by a tactful play eliminating a runner at 2nd. But the Cougars weren’t backing down. Another batter was hit, upping the tension, before a line drive brought in a run for Coastal Bend. The bases loaded up after a walk, and then, two consecutive hits by pitch and a ground ball saw the Cougars clawing back, ultimately leading to Reynolds’ exit.
Despite this, the WCJC Pioneers didn’t lose their spirit. In a show of resilience and teamwork, they rallied to secure a commanding 19-11 victory. This game was more than just a win; it was evidence of the Pioneers’ unwavering determination.
